That said, sometimes they're the lesser of two evils, such as in places where the tap water isn't drinkable (though that's not a situation that should ever be allowed to persist for more than a few weeks outside of extreme emergencies). Yeah. Some places just have bad tap water. And should at least have filters. But not all places do... Filters are a bandaid solution. If tap water is bad enough that filters are necessary to make it drinkable, the local government needs to get off their asses and fix it. --- This is my signature.
