I got a really specific REmake question that's gonna make me sound like an idiot but here goes

I never finished it because I got attacked by a dog and literally could not get it off me. I had full health. I was pressing the action button like crazy and I swear to god nothing happened. I lost 45 minutes of playtime and got so mad I just quit playing.

Someday when I return to the game I would like to know: how do you get dogs off you. Thanks and yes, I am an idiot.
