I use a UPS now to just help smooth it out now that I have a decent rig. Are you sure it is smoother? Those are meant for power outages I thought. A surge is a bit different. Everyone should have a surge protector. And also, the UPS's are generators I think. I wondering what kind of sinewave they put out.
