What's important is a loyalty to the content and tone of the source material.
This. Is it too much to ask for the people involved to familiarize themselves with the source material? Or else we'll get another Dragon Ball Evolution disaster, where I'm convinced not a soul on that crew ever watched a single episode of Dragon Ball.
On the flip side, the actor who played Piccolo did everything he could to make it good. James Marsters is the guy, and he is the only reason Piccolo was even green in that movie. He actually knew and cared about Dragon Ball, and when you watch the movie, he seems to be the only one who puts in any effort. He also went on to be the dub voice of Zamasu in Dragon Ball Super, and he does a phenomenal job of it.
Two different examples of people who worked on the same project. One had to apologize, the other returned to work on the series again and did his very best to make it work. We need more from column B, and way less from column A.
Marsten is THE VOICE of dub Zamasu?! How the fuck did I not know this?! My mind has been blown. ---
