For being the 3rd largest country in the world, the US isn't doing too bad. Every other country that outranks them is leaps and bounds smaller both in size and population.

the us has a pretty optimal size to population ratio for maintaining infrastructure based on my random second of thought on it.

Lot easier to ignore huge amounts of the country in a place like canada where theres so many barely inhabited areas up north. Or to fail to keep up in places with insane population density.
