It just gets weighed down by the fact that it simultaneously has the worst main protagonist AND worst main antagonist in the series. FFXII also had the problem of not having a plot that takes advantage of the good characters it does have I can scarcely fathom thinking Vayne is worse as a lead villain than Mateus, Cloud of Darkness, or Barthandalus.
