can someone explain cultural appropriation to me in a way that is a part of reality?
its exploitative

Like, Native American headdresses are important to their culture for a variety of reasons, so its kinda jarring, and maybe even a little aggressive, when you see the culture that destroyed Native Americans (partially by spreading the idea that Native American culture and everything in it was less than those good ol Puritanical values the Europeans had) making those headdresses en masse as cheap party trinkets. Especially when Native Americans are still -still- suffering from the aftermath of colonization.

Is there a way to tell the difference between appropriation and just cultural osmosis? I mean, France didn't "appropriate" the Renaissance and Bohemia.
