Even when he was in the Shield he had distracting elements in Ambrose and Reigns to conceal missing pieces of his game. J&J did that as a heel singles guy. Mostly I'm thinking his move set lacks impact and he doesn't have a very strong character to show. And these have both gotten worse over time because WWE encourages you to add this stuff and he's added bad stuff, and he's just not as convincing as a face and is a more natural as a heel. But yeah now he has neither a manager nor tag partners and the wrong alignment so it's more glaring --- No problem!
