That's some high praise coming from someone like you who's seen so many mecha anime.

Yep I guess so! But it really was that good. Much as I love em for the characters, action and machines, most robot shows either run too long or have inconsistent endings. Granbelm had all the excellent stuff, plus the right length and ending to boot.

Granbelm went so underwatched and underappreciated as it aired (it was part of one of the most stacked Friday lineups I've ever seen) so every single person I hear say they like it makes me happy.

More people really should watch the show. If it doesn't pick up steam now that it's over I think we'll probably start seeing it show up as a cult classic in a short time. I had lots of fun chatting with you about it, too.

Last question for you: who was best girl?

Oh lord this is a tricky one. Literally anyone of them could be best girl, they were all pretty neat in their own way. I guess I gotta break it down to head, heart and gut feelings.

Head

Suisho was logically speaking, the most interesting. I didn't like her at first but she grew on me largely due to her character history and Aoi Yuki's range and skill as a voice actress. She really sold the role.

Heart

Kuon's sister. She basically stole every scene she was in, Yukari Tamura does both sweet and psycho quite well. Comfortable character design and out of all the hinted at events, I'd dig seeing a spin off or sequel about her time in Granbelm the most. Also was said to smell like Setsgetsu Baika, which was my favorite of the Armanox.

Gut

Anna, she had the most sympathetic/bittersweet motivations, her character design was ferocious and you know, Yoko Hikasa could yell right alongside Akira Kamiya and I wouldn't bat an eye.

So I think overall, Anna was the best girl for me with Kuon's sister being a close runner up.

Now I'll ask the same back, who was your best girl (and which of the Armanox did you like the most)?
