Maybe I'm just missing something here, but I don't feel like TPP ever made the transition from internet phenomenon to genuine real-life cultural phenomenon, unlike Go. The audience for the former at least seemed much more limited than the latter, which truly hit all walks of society.

Oh I agree that it didn't, but I do think that TPP is something that sort of lives in at least our niche part of cultural memory (which is where most of our favorite games live anyway), whereas Pokemon Go hasn't really like... imparted me with any lasting ideas, which maybe it's not something that everyone values, but I do. Maybe it's just because I didn't like Pokemon Go as much but thinking back on playing it in its heyday isn't really something I do a lot. I remember a lot of good times I had in my life that were indirectly related to Pokemon Go, and that's the stuff I have a hard time ranking, because playing Pokemon Go sort of turned into "you know, I should really just go for walks on the nature trails in the city more often", which I ended up doing without the aid of PoGo
