Arrogant posts here in the topic.

People dont do the coursework because theyve never done so. High school is basically how to cheat.

Most students write powerpoints down verbatim because no one taught them what note taking actually means.

Most students dont care about the material theyre forced to spend money on, because you obviously need to take chemistry as a psychology major for some reason. So no shit people are less inclined to do work.

During this stage, people have jobs and other obligations. Coursework that honestly isnt that vital is the least of peoples worries.

Unless youre talking grad school.

Please do not speak for every high school experience. Several of my teachers drilled vital note taking and other college skills into our heads before we graduated. Cheating and plagiarism were taken incredibly seriously in many of my AP classes. Besides, it doesnt take much to figure out how to take notes. Its not hard. In an age where many professors upload the slides or let you record lectures, you dont even need to take notes for some classes.

It doesnt matter if you dont care for the material. I dont care for a lot of things but that doesnt mean I wont give it my all for a good grade. If you lack the attention span for one or two hour classes, college isnt for you. I couldnt give a shit about a computer programming class I took but it was for an internship so you better believe I cared enough.

Having a job and other obligations is no excuse unless youre supporting a family or barely making ends meet or another extreme scenario. People tend to have loads of free time in undergrad because its usually not that difficult depending upon your major. I worked 30+ hours per week at a shitty retail job and still met the expectations of my coursework with damn maximum number of credit hours. Even took on a second job later on. I knew a guy who had a wife and three small children yet he still worked a demanding job on top of keeping up his grades in extremely difficult classes. People just lack work ethic these days.

Once again, if you go to college to goof off and not take it seriously, then its not for you. I personally know way too many people who have said theyre only there for the college experience. If youre paying all this money, then at least try or give a damn.
