I think it's sort of a warning track to those having similar thoughts. The last lyrics are "I'm the one to blame" which I feel definitely supports this, as well as "I should have know, that I was never alone" a deliberately past tense delivery. It's an interesting song for sure! --- I've decided to put my fears behind me.
