Don't know when I'll have time to play again, but before we there there I wanna speculate a little.

Ok, who the fuck killed Nagito?

Sonia is so obvious it hurts. It's obvious because she conveniently left right before the fire happened. Which means it's the first thing that will be discussed. Which greatly reduces her chances, because the first guy who is called out is usually proven innocent. This is in spite of the fact she has those connections to the DR1 mock murders, and that her character is in that sweet spot between "very developed" and "pathetic joke character" that may allow her to be the mastermind.

Fuyu is immortal. He has a full arc. Someone sacrificed themselves to save him. We know his backstory better than most of those kids. It can't be him.

Kazuichi and Akane are s dumbasses that revealing they were masterminds all along could feel forced. Akane more than Kazuichi, because she has a character arc of sorts, related to Nekomaru's death.

This leaves us Chiaki. RIght now I'm leaning on her, despite thinking she is this game's closest match to Kyoko. She had a huge number of moments that showed her as caring, heroic and empathetic. She is anything but the Ultimate Despair. But a very manipulative character could do it. It would be the twist of the century, but it can be done, and it would feel cooler than "Kazuichi was smart all along". It would make my prediction from the start of this playthrough epic, too. But damn, I hope I'm wrong, I really like Chiaki.

This is assuming the killer is the Ultimate Despair, like in 1-5. It could be a kill for mundane rteasons. Fuck, Nagito gave a lot of reasons for those kids to want to kill him. If that's the case, Kazuichi becomes a viable option. Akane not so much because she was just stopped from killing Nagito.

Also on the subject of Sonia having just left, I suspect the window for the kill was much bigger than that. SInce the 6 kids split up and went to different islands, actually. This could make for a difficult case.

Finally, this is all assuming it was one of the 6. There are other possible twists. Someone from DR1. A new character linked to one of the organizations. Hajime has a split personality. One of the dead kids, who is actually still alive. All of those options are very wacky though, and it being one of the 6 is way more possible.

And honestly? I don't want it to be someone from DR1. Those character got very good characters arcs that shouln't be destroyed, and the ones who didn't (Hiro/Toko) have the same issue as Kazuichi and Akane, they are too dumb to be suddenly revealed as the big bad.

Anyway, I'm lost, and I wish I didn't have classes now so I could just binge this game until it ends.
