Topic	Have you ever had any job interviews that went terribly?

(Although it was less brazen than when I was in high school and prospective employers would flat-out tell me tell me that they didn't hire males.) One time, I worked at a store where I was the only males. But I was already friends with all the girls working there. Including my best friend... Was it just that they interviewed everyone, but only hired females? Or is your name kind of androgynous, so they called you in? Just asking cause it seems weird to call people in if youre not going to hire them... If you're talking about the first example, probably an EOE thing or to placate some internal policy against discrimination. Who knows? While I'm not entirely sure men are actually protected under EOE (since things like EOE and affirmative action are alternatively called "positive discrimination" policies and exist to advance non-men, non-whites), office jobs tend to play it safe. In the case of the brazen individuals I met with in high school, that was usually more a matter of just meeting the owner (or sometimes manager) on the spot. And, honestly, they had no need to worry because it's not like a high schooler is going to bother trying to contact a lawyer over something like that and, even if they did, most lawyers wouldn't bother with a case that small and, even if they did, ultimately they know that it come down to one person's word against another so they didn't give a fuck. --- (\/)(\/)\|-\| <cite>Aaantlion posted [p:927813377] in Have you e...
