I had some where I knew I wasn't getting the job within the first five minutes. There was one interview I had where the interviewer (a director at the company) didn't even make eye contact while shaking my hand when greeting me. Whole interview they barely ever made eye contact.

Another interview, midway through I learned that the entire department -- maybe 10 or 12 workers -- were women. I knew that wasn't happening. (Although it was less brazen than when I was in high school and prospective employers would flat-out tell me tell me that they didn't hire males.)

Then there have been times when the job listing was put together by HR who didn't actually understand what the hiring manager was actually looking for. I had the qualifications either way, but I was playing up the side of my work that wasn't doing me any good and, when the manager clarified the role, it was hard to recover since he still had that other picture in mind. Even worse is first-round interviews with HR where they give you feedback on the wrong things. HR in general is always a mess.

Not to mention the times when the person with whom I was supposed to interview was fired and somebody else -- who didn't have much clue -- stepped in to take their place. Or an interview where they had already hired somebody but decided to go ahead with my interview anyway as a back-up candidate.
