Colt's 1911's and their revolvers are still widely coveted (especially their revolvers which have exquisite triggers). their AR's however have turned into nothing particularly noteworthy. They are still good rifles with all the milspec stuff youd expect from a combat rifle, but they havnt done anything particularly noteworthy with them. hell it took over a decade just for them to make a rifle with a midlength gas system behind many others who started it. theres so many makers out there who basically offer just as much at $200-300 less and at the price Colt is still asking for their brand you can either build one thats better for the same price or go with another prebuilt one like an FN (who beat out colt's military contracts) or BCM and get better better fit and finish on top of everything else youd want of which colt has also been lacking in that regard (tho the actual function has always been good in my experience).

and thats assuming youd actually want a battle tested AR. if you just want something to keep around in case shit happens or a range toy then you can just get any number of AR's for $400-500, half of what colt charges.
