The problem is, what happens when you develop illnesses based on your behavior, which in turn raises your insurance premiums, IS it just "your problem"? Or worse, what if you lack insurance entirely, and wind up being supported by the state in some way, ultimately being passed on to other people, who in turn are now paying for your decisions? There's a really blurry line when we get into "What I do to myself in the privacy of my own home should be no one else's business", because it also tends to go hand-in-hand with your effect on other people. If someone else is being forced to deal with your second-hand smoke, or you injure someone else because you're drunk/stoned/etc, or you injure yourself so bad that society as a whole now has to deal with you, at that point your decisions DON'T just affect you. I'm actually pretty social liberal/libertarian in the sense that I think the government should stay the fuck out of people's lives as much as possible, but even I can't deny that there are cases where it's not that simple. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ...
