It seems like once Ash is finished in Alola, the show will NOT follow him to Galar and instead will reboot as a new series featuring elements from all 8 generations; it's not even confirmed if Ash will be in it. I doubt they would have an anime series without Ash since the anime is used a tool for advertising the video games to the little kids. An anime series that doesn't have at least some focus on Galar would be bad if you want to advertise the latest games. I could see the next anime series doing something like 10-20 episodes traveling in Galar, then Ash travels to another region for maybe 5-10 episodes, then heads back to Galar again.
