While we're on YA...was anybody into (or does anybody even remember) The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper?

I'm kind of surprised with the popularity of series' like Harry Potter that no studio seems to have taken a stab at it. The writing is good for YA and it is a bit darker in tone than the usual also-rans in that general wheelhouse.

Jokes on you, they DID take a stab at it. A movie came out for it a few years back that was apparently so god-awful that it was out of theaters in like, a week.

I know PO has talked about the series before, and I've chimed in a few times. I didn't finish the series and honestly don't remember much of it. For whatever reason, I guess I was never that "into" it. But I think I'd be more into giving it a re-try now. And I think it could survive in a TV format or multiple movie format. Of course, "if done right" is the metric-shit ton keyword there. Plenty of books that deserve big-screen treatment haven't been given the proper accordance (BBC is attempting a His Dark Materials series after the movie shit the bed. That said, I think Kidman still makes for a good Coulter).
