In an effort to keep Captain America modern and relevant Marvel is making some changes

Making Cap modern and relevant is like making a darker, grittier Superman. It completely misses the fucking point, and is pretty much doomed to absolute failure.

With all the decontructionist shit and bleak grimderp universes in comics, I feel like every major company should have at least one objectively good character who can act as a sort of moral compass for all the other heroes. The one hero that everyone is like, "I would follow this person directly into Hell if they asked me to."

People can say "Oh, Superman is boring" or "I can't relate to Captain America" or whatever, but every time they fuck around with those characters I just wind up hating them. And I don't think it's ever resulted in even a single new reader actually buying comics, so it just winds up feeling like stunt bullshit (like how they pulled the "Cap's secretly part of Hydra!" storyline a while back just to troll the Internet).
