I played Zelda II countless times as a kid and literally could not beat the final boss. 20 years later I played it again at a friend's house and basically told him the entire time I wasn't going to be able to beat it, and then wound up beating it on my first try. I have no idea what part of my gaming brain was so underdeveloped as a kid that somehow fixed itself by the time I became an adult, but it surprised the hell out of me. Especially since I assumed it would be even harder, because my adult reflexes are probably a bit slower than they used to be.
