They don't really understand how hard it could be to make a sustainable franchise. For years now they've been trying to have their own cinematic universe because they think if they have a bunch of interconnected films with the Spider-Man name slapped on them they'll all make a billion dollars. So in their minds they have no reason not to pull out; "Hey, Venom and Spider-Verse did good right? We've worked out all the kinks now! Our tentpole Aunt May movie is going to shatter records!"
