I assume you're talking about the allergy antihistamines and not the stomach antihistamines.

The answer is that it's dependent on the generation of the antihistamine, generation 1 antihistamines like diphenhydramine and hydroxyzine are stronger but have more anticholinergic side effects. Generation 2, like cetrizine and loratadine, are weaker but have less side effects.


what about third generation


Those are mostly derivatives of second-generation drugs. Levocetirizine (Xyzal) is just an isomer of Cetrizine (Zyrtec) for example
