Crimea was a part of Ukraine like Hong Kong was a part of the UK. Crimea was a Russian holding that, back when the USSR was a thing, was granted to Ukraine back in 1954. Prior 1954, it had been a part of Russia since the 1700s. Hong Kong had been part of China since... something like the 1200s or so until Britain, sick of China objecting to the UK's profitable opium trade in China, took it over in the 1800s so the UK could protect its illegal drug peddlers. Granted, Hong Kong being part of China is far more established than Crimea being part of Russia since both the UK and China had previously agreed to it (although there was always the fear that the UK would just ignore the lease they signed and keep Hong Kong for themselves) whereas Ukraine was less than okay with Russia taking back Crimea and the international community still protests that transfer. --- (\/)(\/)\|-\| There are precious few at ease / With moral ambiguities / So we act as though they don't exist. <cite>Zeus posted [p:926250661] in Are you Pr...
