People who are depressed, unstable and violent are more likely to receive treatment in those countries, whereas mental health services are expensive, scarce, and often not covered here in the US. Passing gun control legislation and ignoring the underlying cultural and mental health issues is like treating the symptoms while ignoring the disease. If we don't solve these problems, we'll just be exchanging shootings for a different form of mass murder, most likely running down people with vehicles.
