Age of Sigmar seems to be moving towards terrain pieces, units and spells that have set rules regarding cover and los, rather than relying on more subjective assessments of height. I think height plays a huge role, if you look at almost all of the armies big bad, almost all of them are super tall. I mean you have a goddess(?) standing on a huge beetle, a few that are hovering high about magic, and a few others.
