Through Raziel's perspective it seems like Kain is being selfish but later on we see that Kain is trying to break through the shackles of pre-destined fate using the only tool that has free will, Raziel. At the same time, giving Raziel freedom from Mobius and the Elder God. It's even deeper than that but man I love this series. The Legacy of Kain games all center around Kain essentially. --- Well, what do you expect?
