But whenever it gets brought up, I always get an urge to do a quick dive into the lore and the franchise's history. I wonder how much of Dead Sun was actually complete by the time it was cancelled. Through Raziel's perspective it seems like Kain is being selfish but later on we see that Kain is trying to break through the shackles of pre-destined fate using the only tool that has free will, Raziel. At the same time, giving Raziel freedom from Mobius and the Elder God. It's even deeper than that but man I love this series. You can buy it as a "PSOne Classic" on the PS3/PSP. Should be able to play it on a Vita too. I've been itching to replay it, but I recall the PS1 version having abysmally long load times.
