Potty training can either be difficult or really easy, depends on the dog. My last dog learned to go outside very quickly, while my puppy now took some time to learn. For my current puppy, I didn't give him treats when he went potty outside, but I did praise him like he accomplished world peace.

If I caught him going potty inside, I rushed him out and praised him outside when he finished. If he goes in the house and you don't see it, don't punish them (I know it's hard to not get angry at a pile of shit on your carpet, but compose yourself) cause dogs don't really understand cause and effect, and will think you're yelling at him for no reason.

Another thing that helped was noticing signs just before they go to the bathroom. I have a doggy door, so anytime I caught my puppy suddenly sniffing the ground, usually in a circular motion, I would lead him to the doggy door and tell him "outside" and then praise him when he did his business.

As for fetch, I never got good at teaching that. I would suggest watching YouTube videos, everyone seems to have a different method, but giving treats never worked for me. They lost focus on the game and wanted the treats instead.
