When you need an emergency root canal, you cannot function at all until that is taken care of. Half of my teeth were rotted away, and the ones that were left were extremely brittle and prone to cracking. I had several exposed nerves. It was physically impossible for me to eat something like an apple because it would literally have broken and yanked teeth out. It was so bad that I had 15 teeth pulled in 1 surgery when I got dental implants. I hardly even noticed any pain from them. A dull throb once in a while. It doesn't hurt that bad at all. Now, when I had ear infections when I was younger (I had to get ear tubes twice), I was incapable of doing anything other than lay in bed and cry from the pain.
