Crossing into the US and requesting asylum is not illegal. By treating asylum seekers like ass, Trump is increasing the incentive for people to *not* turn themselves over to border patrol, to not make the asylum request, and to just sneak into the country and disappear. Which is in no one's best interest. This is also one of the (many, many, many) reasons why the wall is such a dumb idea. It's not going to impact the huge crush of people making asylum claims. You want to deal with those people? Start investing in more immigration judges and larger facilities to house them (both of which Trump has resisted funding in favour of his vanity project). --- Kill 1 man: You are a murderer.
