I point the finger at the examples being set by our institutions, including the Trump administration and its lip service to LGBT equality, to the media that gives them air with its 'bias to the middle' approach to reporting, to an online culture of irony and nihilism rankles at the idea of sincerity in how it relates to others. I also think many of our LGBT elders believe their struggles to be past, and believe they live in an age sexual and gender equality.
