Doesnt CE have a resident police officer? I'd love to hear their thoughts on cops who pull stuff like this and what the penalty, if any, should there be

I mean why does my opinion on what other people at another job at another state do? I dont know their state laws?

For my state, you need reasonable suspicion or probable cause to stop someone. Or a consensual stop

Your opinion matters as essentially someone on the inside, with more general knowledge regarding police protocols. I mean, teaching standards vary from state to state, but it doesnt preclude people from asking educators general questions.

If this video is to be believed, this officer violated protocol.

I mean there is no protocol. The officer just has no idea of his own laws. If he really wanted to he could stop the guy for obstructing a sidewalk, depending on where the guy is loitering etc... all in all it was a consensual encounter and the guy walked away. Its not illegal for a police officer to ask someone to identify himself. But in a consensual stop the guy can tell that cop to fuck off

Yes it looks like the cop was doing something wrong by just running up to someone and telling them to iD themselves. If the camera man wasnt there he probably would have kept him detained
