I get why these generic radio stations exist: at any time somebody can turn on the station and the song they hear is one they already know and know the words to. They mainly play(at least the one I listen to at work ugh) #1 hit singles which is why some popular bands only have a song on rotation even if they are super huge bands. Such as the station I have to listen to only plays to my knowledge, one Pink Floyd song, another brick pt 2., because it hit #1. Not every pink floyd single has done that, but it shouldnt make a difference because a lot of people will recall other PF hits as well even if not #1.

I don't really care for "classic rock" at all, but there should be a radio station that plays more than just #1 hit songs and some others. What would the harm be in giving the unwashed masses at the very least every PF single on rotation? i dont know.

The main rock stations on my settings are:

95.7 - classic rock, swinging more toward "deep cuts" than standards
98.7 - mostly contemporary rock
99.7 - classic rock, mostly "the hits"
105.7 - classic & contemporary, mostly "the hits"
106.5 - used to be alternative rock, now mostly just alternative rock and pop
107.9 - basically a top 40 station
