argonautweakend 06/04/19 11:46:39 PM #44: | Song of the day(and youre free to post yours, too): "Diane" by Husker Du(1984). Husker du was a band who's biggest influence seems to be 60s pop, but they started out as a hardcore band from minneapolis. so...originally they were one of the fastest bands you could hear in the early 80s. Aptly titled, their first release was a live record called "land speed record". So, the album this appears on, "metal circus" is a fast hardcore album, but unlike their past works this is the album(though kinda short like an EP) where you can sense they might be going places. This song marks a transition from hardcore, present on their next album, my favorite album of all time, "Zen Arcade" to the weirder side. This song has a creepy atmosphere about it. and, to top it off its about the rape and murder of a woman named, well, Diane. Apparently a true story, making it even better i think. the song. not the rape and murder. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
