I always liked Daniel Craig in the role even if some of the classic Bond traits don't really suit him perfectly, but this was the one where he really came into his own--after he worked out some of the kinks and before he got bored/tired and. The real reason why this is my favorite Bond movie is because it's the only one that feels like art. Sam Mendes is a world-class director, but Roger Deakons's cinematography elevates this movie to true cinematic glory.
