Maybe it's because I'm used to bad neighborhoods in New York looking so obviously bad--graffiti, run-down buildings, broken glass, etc.--and there's something about palm trees and lawns in the hood that interests me to no end. I love GTA: San Andreas for it, I love The Chronic for it, and I love Boyz n the Hood for it. It's not just the setting that makes Boyz n the Hood a classic, of course.
