It's true though. The best stories are about people. Even when you have things like dinosaurs, zombies, or aliens, the best stories are the ones which put the focus on how the people react to them.

This is the attitude that ruins Transformers for me. I don't care about Shia "The Beef" or his human girlfriend problems. Inhuman characters can carry a movie entirely on their own, but writers keep insisting on adding human characters, giving them the vast majority of screen time, then saying "the audience relates to this person more than they would relate to a giant robot."

To that I say "fuck off mate, a Godzilla movie is best when Godzilla is in charge."


What American movies havent learned about giant monsters is that the human story needs synergy with the monster story, and the monsters need to be, ultimately, the main event, not a flashy action climax.

Just...go watch the original Japanese Gojira to figure out how its supposed to work lol
