Wow you really went above and beyond. That is admirable. If the person really did know they hit it, or saw it beforehand, that's really bad, especially since they were at a stop. Hope it survives, you did all you could.

I've hit 2 animals without stopping, but I'm almost positive both were killed instantly, and they were definitely not pets. One of the times it was a busy road at high speeds so there was no sense in stopping - a smallish deer basically suicided in front of my large van. There was foliage right near the road and he suddenly shot out of it out of nowhere, I had no time to react. Also fuck deer anyway, they cause serious damage and can get people killed. The other time was a possum that I didn't see in time, at night, and ran over. I felt bad about it but I kept going because it wasn't gonna survive my tires going over it.
