It's funny. People who work for tips blame the tipper. How about blaming your company that you work for, for not paying you.Yes there are a handful of jobs you can get good tips at but most of them are a waste of time. You should get paid at least minimum wage and a tip should be extra, not your actual pay.
I hate the fact that tip jobs even exist. PAY YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!!
You do realize that if a delivery/server doesn't make at least minimum wage with their tips they are required by law to be payed the difference? Or the fact that the whole tipping culture exists because "eating out" is less of a thing in the US and Canada so if the restaurant food prices were raised to the level where tips weren't needed it would pretty much cause the whole industry to implode? Not to mention the fact that workers should indeed blame the tipper because if tips didn't exist they would be paying the same or more for their food anyways.
The issue is a lot more complicated then "I don't have to tip here, why should I tip there?" When it comes down to it tipping is less about "pay your workers decently" and more about "keeping the restaurant industry afloat".
I remember reading about a restaurant that increased the price of food, but also payed it's employees a decent price. I think it's doing ok. I also heard something else about why we still have tips...
I am not saying it is impossible, but when you have 60% of restaurants dying within the first year and 80% dying within the first 5, the industry is already pretty fragile. Adding another factor is only going to make it worse.
Probably. But having people who work for mostly tips suck, as well... Either way, it would be hard to change. But I guess if they did, it might cause a bunch of restaurant to go down, and even cause some chains to shut down a few buildings for a while. But once everything changed, maybe things would get back to normal... Maybe... ---
