It sounds like they thought GFL plays like almost every other gacha out there, where rarity is the ultimate sign of power and a character can pretty much never be better than another character with a higher rarity. I can imagine all of the CN/JP players trying to play GFL like a normal gacha and using as many high rarity dolls as possible right off the bat (especially shitty ones like Kar98k) only to end up in core hell and get frustrated because they can't dummy link all of their dolls and they're so weak without dummy links. It sounds hilarious.

Wait, I don't have to imagine it. That actually happened when the JP server launched. I remember the game getting review-bombed by players in Japan who tried playing it like a normal gacha and ended up stuck in core hell. I remember hearing that they were complaining that they couldn't re-roll at the beginning or whale for tons of summons at once to make sure they got the doll they wanted I even remember that the developers had to implement the doll restore function much earlier than they wanted to because so many players cored the AR team despite them clearly being only obtainable once (because they were only 4 stars and not 5) before they realized that they were among the best dolls in the whole game.

I remember it. and it was hilarious.
