For me, Avatar doesn't come close to matching how breath taking it was to see Gravity in a proper 3D format. It's one of the few films that is not only enhanced, but lives and dies by how you physically see it. Gravity is the only movie on my list that I give bonus points to for my initial impression. Having watched it at home since its release, I can safely say that it does not hold up to that first viewing. But that still doesn't take away how wonderful it was when it first came out.
