He'd never be able to use one - as has been pointed out in more recent books, one of the core principles of the green ring is that you need to have immense willpower, and that you need to be able to use it to overcome great fear. Whereas Batman has been entirely defined by his own fear for almost his entire life, to the point where he's turned it into a weapon he wields against others. In essence, he'd make a perfect Sinestro Corps recruit.
