I don't have my license and I'm almost 30. I've had 2 learner's permits expire.

Same boat at 27. I suck at driving/dont enjoy it.

Same at 28. I know people think I'm a manchild or whatever for not knowing how to drive but I tried and I just hate it. It's so much responsibility and I just can't see myself doing it. I feel so much safer when someone else is driving.

Failing my road test at the DMV shattered my confidence.

Honestly, road tests aren't a great metric of driving ability. I very nearly failed mine because of a few instances of missed shoulder checks, all of which were because I'd been paying good enough attention to the road around me to know that nobody was there. When I finished, he asked me if I'd had a license before because I had bad habits like I'd been driving for a while (I hadn't, but I had been biking for several years, which amounted to road experience), but I still feel like that was less "bad habits" and more a matter of already having the intuition and spatial awareness needed to cut some corners. Road tests just test for rigidly adhering to what the book says you're supposed to do, which isn't what driving well actually entails (though a good many people bend/break those rules for no good reason).
