Outside of the shooting itself I can't agree that the gameplay is better than New Vegas. Playing it feels like playing any other generic shooter to me.

Interacting with the world is part of the gameplay too, and Fallout 4 was just garbage in that regard. Boring quests, radiant quests, barely any real choices outside of you basically choosing your ending.

Playing through NV right now, I have to give FO4 the edge for generally having better gunplay. NV enemies can have very narrow hitboxes, and there's quite a few irritating bugs with VATs - most notably where close-range hits won't register most of the time, and how occasionally when you set up multi hits in VATs and the first one misses, it freezes the camera and makes all subsequent hits miss. NV's weapon and enemy variety is unquestionably better though, and I blame FO3 for bringing the busted-ass combat to the table, which Obsidian did their best to improve. Plus Fallout 4's melee and unarmed is garbage.

Ultimately there's enough good and ill between NV and FO4 combat-wise that it's just barely balanced enough to make me crave FO4 from time to time. Especially since Power Armor is the one area in which 4 earns best-in-franchise status.
