Its not denying the worth if the item, its denying the practicality versus the money spent.

oh i'm not denying it's a luxury item...but you gotta spend money on something. it's something i enjoy and i've explained why, so it's worth it to me. and according to value per dollar, in the watch world this watch is very much worth it

TC's watch isn't even in the status symbol range...

correct, i doubt anyone knows what a christopher ward is lol. that said, the brand has a great rep in the watch community and as mentioned the value per dollar is there. imo any more than this and you start to reach the law of diminishing returns

I'd happily buy that on flash sale for $39.98 on Amazon

you really can't just assign a value and say that's how much you'd be willing to pay. that may be how much it's worth it to you...but that doesn't mean the objective worth isn't much much higher. it's like if you didn't like the looks of an astor martin and said "i'll pay $500 for it, no more". people would laugh you out of the room. between design, materials and construction, the watch alone costs way more to produce than your price. the guy who hand checks this watch probably makes $39.98 just for that task. the price isn't artificially assigned, there is purpose and reasoning behind it

Nice face, but not a fan of the band. Just personal taste.

oh i agree...i bought this strap because it was the cheapest one lol. i never keep the default strap on my watches, that is the easiest thing to swap out. once i get it i'm swapping in a different strap
