Before adding more laws, why not fix the ones already on the books?

Because we can do more than one thing at a time.

Have you met your local politician?

Have you considered that it may be worth trying to do something, even if its difficult, to make vulnerable people get murdered not quite so often?

Have you considered how splitting already thin resources means nothing gets done?

Also government focuses on gun regulation because these events allow them to push an agenda they already had in mind. Their plans aren't designed to stop school shooters, it's to make the public less scary for them.

Actually, we have plenty of gun laws.

If you think the US has "plenty" of gun laws, you need to go visit literally any other country.

They do have plenty, they're just ridiculous and don't do much to control crime. The UK doesn't have a lot of gun laws, we just have a few sweeping general ones that block out anything you might want.
