Simba was a character that started out in SMDC as one of the most dominant participants around, then gradually fell off into slightly more mediocre territory. He debuted in 28th, which is fine, then made back to back top threes fantastic. He, Mulan, and now Nick are the only ones to have done that. He's also now the only character to appear in the top 3 three times. This was enough to land him in third for the SMDC III stats, though it'd be short lived. After his finals loss, he fell back a bit, spending the next five contests oscillating between being just outside the top 20, and hovering around 50, with SMDC VIII marking his low point in being his first sub-50 finish. A bit of a resurgence hit in IX though, when he finished 15, making it his first top 20 finish since his finals appearance, and actually his only top twenty appearance that wasn't also a top 3 run. And that culminated here with a finals appearance, ultimately coming up just short of a win. This makes him the first repeat finalist to lose, as both Mulan and Rapunzel won their second attempts. Simba has been hovering just outside the overall top ten for some time now, with even his worst finishes still being good enough to keep him in the game. That wound up paying off, where IX and X combined to get him back into the top 10 for the first time since SMDC VI, capitalizing on subpar finishes from some of the top ten staples. He finishes 6th in the all-time stats by placement, making it a three way tie with Donald and Mickey. His percentile ranking rises to 7th, and he manages to get in under the wire to make it to 10th in the modern ranking metric, leaving him in the top 10 for all three stats.
