Yeah, Cold Steel is pretty tight on money. There's an infinite money trick involving having Elliot becoming an omelet kingpin but it can get tedious. (The very first recipe you get, Simple Omelet, can be sold for a profit if you have Elliot cook it. That said... you need Elliot in your party which means you ideally want to be on a Field Study with him, although you could use the Old Schoolhouse on a Free Day to put him in your party... but then you need to exit/enter to get to the shops and ugh. And in your current situation you just have no access to Elliot at all so yeah.)

I didn't think you'd be interested in the trick (you basically sit in front of a shop to buy the ingredients, then cook, then sell/re-buy ingredients until you're satisfied.) which is why I hadn't mentioned it until now.

99 Omelets generally comes out to a ~1800 mira profit. And if you're committed you can make 400-500k/hour like this to give you an idea of how fast/slow it is.

Other than that, your best option is really just to fight. You aren't paid for sidequests like in Sky (unless mira/Sepith Mass is the reward which is rare) so acquiring and selling Sepith Mass is basically it. You can still exchange the element type Sepith but obviously you may want that for quartz and unlocking slots.
