Hate crimes out the ass, assaults are common and interracial couples attacked or harassed regularly. The racism towards black people is especially bad. Keep in mind that over a dozen states *cough the south and bible belt* are in one of three categories 1) hate crimes aren't legally recognized 2) hate crimes are recognized but the person committing the act has to explicitly state they're committing the crime against (member of a certain race or gender) on the sole basis of that person being that particular type of (race or gender) 3) 2, but they don't recognize crimes against LGBT people as hate crimes And even in the cases of 2 and 3, they don't always affect the sentencing any, nor do they modify certain crimes into violent crimes. --- Pew pew! ...
